Social learning for enhancing social-ecological resilience to disaster-shocks: a policy Delphi approach

Purpose The plethora of contributions to social learning has resulted in a wide range interpretations, meanings and applications learning, both within across disciplines. However, advancing the concept using methods tools areas like disaster-shocks requires interdisciplinary consolidation understandings. In this context, primary focus paper is on disaster risk reduction (DRR). Design/methodology/approach By applying three-round policy Delphi process involving 18 purposefully selected scholars expert-practitioners, authors collected data for two groups professionals, DRR social-ecological resilience. survey instruments included questions relating identification core elements prospects enhancing Findings results revealed strong agreement that (1) indicate collective, iterative collaborative involves sharing/networking, changes attitudes knowledge inclusivity; (2) from disasters unique; (3) linkages between disciplines can be built by promoting interdisciplinarity, networks platforms; collaboration coordination at all levels; teaching practicing trust respect.
